Pioneer Drilling Announces Third Quarter 2008 Earnings Release and Conference Call Schedule

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, October 14, 2008 – Pioneer Drilling Company (AMEX: PDC) announced today that it intends to release financial results for the three months ended September 30, 2008, on Thursday, November 6, before the market opens. As previously announced, the Company has transitioned to a December 31 fiscal year end; accordingly, the three months ended September 30, 2008, will be reported as the third quarter of 2008. In conjunction with the upcoming release, Pioneer has scheduled a conference call for November 6 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time (10:00 a.m. Central Time).
