Pioneer Drilling Announces Second Quarter 2008 Earnings Release and Conference Call Schedule

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, August 5, 2008 – Pioneer Drilling Company (AMEX: PDC) announced today that it intends to release financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2008, on Thursday, August 7, before the market opens. As previously announced, the Company has transitioned to a December 31 fiscal year end; accordingly, the three months ended June 30, 2008, will be reported as the second quarter of 2008. In conjunction with the upcoming release, Pioneer has scheduled a conference call for August 7 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time (1:00 p.m. Central Time).
